Caregiver-Only Support Groups for Those Dealing with Any Disorder or Condition (not PD-specific)

Caregivers need to have their own support group meetings or gatherings because they need to vent, share, learn tips and resources, and receive support from others walking the same path. Ideally, a caregiver to someone with Parkinson's Disease can attend a PD-specific caregiver support group. Or someone dealing with Lewy Body Dementia can attend an LBD-specific caregiver support group. And so on. But, there are few in the Bay Area.

If there isn't a PD-specific or atypical parkinsonism-specific caregiver-only support group near you, consider attending general caregiver support groups. The groups listed below are general groups open to family caregivers, regardless of disorder. At any given time, there may be no one dealing with Parkinson’s Disease or atypical parkinsonism attending these meetings but the group make-up changes over time and you may not be looking for PD-specific information anyway.

Most of these groups focus on caregivers to seniors. There is no cost, unless indicated. All have a “drop-ins welcome” policy, unless indicated.

Editorial comment: It is VERY unfortunate that there are so few in the Bay Area!
